A severely overheated engine is likely to roast the transmission fluid as well so if you have to replace the cylinder head (Top cylinder ) gasket because of an overheated engine ensure you drain the transmission fluid and replace it with a fresh one. This is even more important if your vehicle is fitted with an automatic transmission unit.
